Detroit Public Schools’ Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb has been holding a series of Town Hall meetings to solicit parent and community feedback on the district’s Master Facilities Plan.

Detroit Public Schools will be transformed over the next five years from a district with many under-capacity schools in aging buildings to one in which about 75 percent of all students will attend new or recently renovated schools, under a new Master Facilities Plan.

Bobb said the Master Plan creates a leaner, smarter DPS by taking into account citywide demographic trends, school performance, condition of school buildings, operating costs, the new Academic Plan, community partnerships and other factors. He expects to make a final decision later this month.

School presentations and individual comments will only be allowed for the schools listed for the specific Town Hall meeting. Each school will be given 15 minutes and must present in the order listed. The individual school presentation starting times are approximate and may be subject to change.

The remainder of the schedule is as follows:

April 15 at 7 p.m. at Osborn High School, 11600 E. Seven Mile
Schools impacted: Mason, 7:15 p.m.; Osborn High, 7:30 p.m.; Brenda Scott, 7:45 p.m.; Detroit High School of Technology, 8 p.m.

April 19 at 7 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School, 3200 E. Lafayette
Schools impacted: Boykin Continuing Education Center, 7:15 p.m.; Crosman Alternative, 7:30 p.m.; McKinney Day Treatment, 7:45 p.m.; Detroit City Alternative High, 8 p.m.; Detroit Day School for the Deaf, 8:15 p.m.; Catherine Ferguson Academy for Young Women, 8:30 p.m.; Trombly Alternative High, 8:45 p.m. and Westside Alternative High, 9 p.m.
