Parents are invited to any one of Detroit Public Schools’ seven Parent Resource Centers on Tuesday, November 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. to learn about how to stretch their dollars and keep kids on track academically through the holiday season. The Parent Resource Centers also will hold gift card and turkey raffles.
Parents can attend workshops through December on following student progress, communicating with their children and balancing the demands of parenthood.

At any of the seven DPS Parent Resource Centers located at: Central High, Cody, Osborn, Marcus Garvey, Priest, Detroit School of Arts -Langston Hughes campus and the DPS Welcome Center.
The holiday festivals and workshops are part of DPS’ “Parent and Community Engagement 2.0” initiative, a broad strategy to dramatically increase parent involvement. The initiative includes opening parent resource centers, holding ongoing training camps that focus on parenting and job skills, offering workshops and more.
Parents can attend any workshop from now through Dec. 15 and be entered to win a $150 shopping spree. The more workshops parents attend, the more chances they have to win.

Nov. 29-Dec. 3: Communication: Do you know where your child is? Are they making the Grade? Will they pass? And what is your plan to ensure that they do?
Dec. 6-10: Stress Management: OMG! What’s next? Enough! This workshop will explore balancing home, work, children and money.
Dec. 13-17: Building Relationship: Quality vs. Quantity (How to get the most out of homework and holiday breaks, including take-home activity kits for children.)
