PSL girls’ volleyball playoffs start Tuesday at Western International and King High

Defending champion Cass Tech High joins Renaissance High as the tops seeds in the 2011 Detroit Public School League girls’ volleyball championship playoffs, set to begin Tuesday with quarterfinal matches at King High School and Western International High School.

Renaissance, the first-place team in the West division, will play Denby (4th East) at 4:30 p.m., and King (2nd East) will play Central (3rd West) at 6 p.m., in quarterfinal games at King High School.

In quarterfinal games at Western High School, Cass (1st East) plays CMA (4th West) at 4:30 p.m., and Western (2nd West) plays Pershing (3rd East) at 6 p.m.

The quarterfinal winners advance into Thursday’s semifinals at Western International High.  At 5 p.m., the Renaissance-Denby winner plays the King-Central winner and the Cass-CMA winner plays the Western-Pershing winner at 7 p.m.

The tourney climaxes with the 2011 PSL girls’ volleyball championship and consolation games, beginning at 7 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Western International High. Admision is $3.
