The Detroit Public School League girls’ softball championship doubleheader is set for Friday afternoon at University of Detroit Mercy.

CMA will play Central in the Division 2 title game at 1 p.m., followed by the Division 1 premier matchup at 3 p.m. featuring defending champion Renaissance against Cass Tech. Admission is $5.

In semifinal action Wednesday, CMA rallied from an 8-7 deficit to claim a 17-10 victory against Cody. The game (at East English Village) resumed in the bottom of the third inning after rain had suspended play two consecutive days.

Renaissance advanced with a semifinal victory against Denby as muddy field conditions (at Renaissance) prevented the resumption of play.  The Lady Phoenix led 10-1 when play was halted Tuesday in the bottom of the fourth inning.
