PSL girls’ volleyball quarterfinals and semifinals set for Tuesday and Thursday Oct. 14 and 16; finals Oct. 23

The field is set for the 2014 Detroit Public School League girls’ volleyball playoffs.

Based on the final regular season standings, the top four teams in the East and West divisions have qualified for Tuesday’s (Oct. 14) quarterfinals to be played at two sites.

At Cass Tech High School, Western International plays East English Village at 4 p.m., and four-time defending league champion Cass Tech plays DCP-Northwestern at 5:30 p.m.  The winners advance to Thursday’s (Oct. 16) 5 p.m. semifinal game at Western International High School.

At East English Village Prep Academy, King plays CMA at 4 p.m., and Renaissance plays DIA at 5:30 p.m. The winners advance to Thursday’s (Oct. 16) 7 p.m. semifinal game at Western International High.

The championship game is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Western International High, preceded by the 5 p.m. consolation game between the losing semifinalists.  Admission to the varsity playoffs is $5.

The playoff action gets started with the PSL junior varsity semifinals and finals on Monday (Oct. 13) at Western International, matching Cass Tech, the top seed in the East, against Western, the No. 2 seed in the West, at 4 p.m.; and Renaissance (1W) against East English Village (2E), at 5 p.m., with the championship game slated for 6 p.m.  Admission to the JV playoffs is $3.

PSL varsity girls’ volleyball final regular season standings (playoff seeds in parenthesis):
East – Cass Tech 7-0 (1E), King 6-1 (2E), East English Village 5-2 (3E), DIA 4-3 (4E), Pershing 2-4, Denby 2-5, Osborn 1-5, Southeastern 0-7
West – Renaissance 7-0 (1W), Western 6-1 (2W), CMA 4-3 (3W), DCP-Northwestern 4-3 (4W), Cody 3-4, Mumford 3-4, Ford 1-6, Central 0-7.
