Renaissance High’s Siyeh Frazier had 17 points, 10 steals and seven assists in an 83-7 blowout victory against Southeastern and has been named Detroit Public School League Proud Strong Learner of the Week.

DSC_0702“Siyeh is the heart and soul of our team,’’ Lady Phoenix coach Kiwan Ward said. “Her maturity level has really grown from last year to this year. She’s taken on a leadership role and she does it with pride. She’s always the first to encourage and cheer on the other girls. She’s not only our scoring leader, but she’s our vocal leader as well.”

The Lady Phoenix entered Friday’s game against Mumford with a 6-3 overall record and tied for first place in the PSL West with Cass Tech at 3-1.

Frazier, in her third year as a varsity starter, is averaging 18 points, five steals, four assists and two blocks. She was named PSLer of the Week last season as a sophomore.

With still another year of high school, Frazier is being recruited by at least a dozen Division 1 colleges.

The Detroit Public School League Proud Strong Learner of the Week award is representative of the league’s top boys’ and girls’ athletes. The award is presented by the DPS Office of Athletics and is sponsored by Detroit-area McDonald’s owner-operators.
