Cody students win $1,000 for their innovative business plan

On May 30, Detroit Institute of Technology at Cody hosted its 2nd Annual Senior Presentations – Shank Tank 2.0. The competition entails a semester-long cross curriculum (math, English, graphic design, etc.) program, which challenged seniors to create an innovative business plan. Eight teams competed for a grand prize of $1,000.00.

The 2018 winners are Cody Seniors Nala Barlow and Jamya Richardson for their creation of Barlos Burgers. Their teacher mentor was Cody Athletic Director and Coach Antonio Baker.

To prepare, students to met with the Shark Tank judges for guidance as they built their business plans. Leaders from the community visited Cody to lead workshops in the areas of product and services, market analysts and operations.

Cody would like to thank its partners Dress for Success, Oak Pointe Church, United Way and Community Connections who helped make Shark Tank 2.0 a success.
